It was an evening of wind and ran but it was enjoyable. I wished more would have showed up. Don Sherron BBQ’d for us again. Thanks Don, did you OD on Key Lime pie? I put left over pop in storage for later events. Left over perishable food stuff was taken home by members. Thanks to those who brought side dishes and desserts.

Soak your biots in water – use a tupperware bowl. If you use ma’s fine China. The dye will eventually bleed from the biot and bond to the dish. It creates a rough surface film that doesn’t come off. Tupperware is cheap so no worries.

If you’re going to tie biot bodies pay attention to the “notch”. If you’re tying dry flies, make sure the notch faces to the left. If you’re tying nymphs, make sure it goes to the right (yes it makes a difference). Tying in the biot with the notch to the right will create a “rib” – perfect for nymphs.

Last note – goose biots are used for small flies (size 16 – 24). Use turkey biots for larger flies (drakes/hex).
